Coolified Games is created by Coolmath.com,
Inc. that is run by me, Karen Davis. Before I "retired" to devote
myself full-time to Coolmath, I taught at the community college level
for 14 years and one of my specialties was teaching Math for Elementary
School Teachers.
Unlike other game websites, Coolified Games is
NOT a "gaming portal." The majority of game websites simply embed
games from other sites for free - meaning that they are given some code
for a game and the game (along with its ads) is served to you from some
other site. These games contain potentially unsafe ads and links
to the other gaming websites and their main purpose is to drive traffic
to those other websites.
At Coolified Games, I contact the original
creator of each game and pay for a special license that allows us to
host the game on our own servers. I ask them to remove the ads and
all external links to their own sites or to other gaming sites.
Coolified Games is a gaming destination, not a portal to other gaming
sites.
Why do we do it this way? Because most
gaming websites have games that are not safe for kids. Seriously,
while I was looking around for games to license for this site, I was,
once again, shocked at how unsafe the majority of other gaming websites
are. I really wouldn't even want a teenaged kid of mine playing
some of those games. (Luckily, my cats prefer toy mice and string
to online games.)
So, our games are safe both in content and not
leading kids over to other game sites.
As for our advertising, we work with The
Rubicon Project and have the highest level of screening and filters in
place.
For teachers, we made Coolified Games to
replace Spike's Game Zone (which is a site that's been largely neglected
over the years.) If you allow your kids to visit Spike during
school hours, I would greatly appreciate it if you'd review the content
of Coolified Games and consider unblocking it from your schools filters!
There is nothing educational about these games, but they are good,
clean, safe fun!
